Temples and Timelines

Cool RA Snacks.  They're making trucks.

Walking in the Word

1 Then as He went out of the temple, one of His disciples said to Him, “Teacher, see what manner of stones and what buildings are here!
2 And Jesus answered and said to him, “Do you see these great buildings? Not one stone shall be left upon another, that shall not be thrown down."
3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter, James, John, and Andrew asked Him privately, 4 “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign when all these things will be fulfilled?” Mark 3:1-4

Responding to the Word

Do you feel like you worship God better in church?  I know I do.  But I must always remember that the "Church" is not a building made with bricks and mortar.  The "Church" is the people of God!  If you are a believer in Jesus Christ, you are the church!  The building we worship in today will one day not be here.  In the above passage, Jesus referred to the Temple built by King Herod for the Jews.  It was grand and beautiful.  So when he said, "Not one stone shall be left on another," he got more than a few strange looks.  How could anyone destroy that beautiful temple?  But that's exactly what happened about 70 years after Jesus lived.  The temple was destroyed!
Temples and built and temples fall down.  Churches are build and churches fall down.  But that's OK.  Our faith is not in buildings made with bricks and mortar, but in the name that is above every name - Jesus Christ.  Aren't you glad He's got the whole world in His hands?

Praying through the Word

Father, You are more than just God on Sunday mornings.  You are God today and forever.  You have always been and always will be.  I bow before you today to worship you and you alone.  Father, I pray for the first night of Faith Evangelism.  I pray that many will come to know your Son as their personal Lord and Savior.  In Jesus' Name, Amen.
